NYC Police Officer Accused of Cannibal Conspiracy

A New York City police officer is charged with conspiracy to kidnap, rape, murder, cook, and eat women. Gilberto Valle, 28, was accused after his wife found disturbing chats and images on his computer that depicted women in various stages of rape and torture. She fled their home and turned the computer over to the FBI.

Valle apparently got in contact with his “co-conspirators” on a dark fetish website run by a Russian man. There, he was able to chat with other men who were interested in capturing, raping, killing, and eating women. The owner of the site, Sergey Merenkov says the site simply functions as a social environment for people with dark kinky fantasies. There are 4,500 users total, about 25% of which are women, he says.

The defense for Valle as well as others using the site is that the fetishes were role-play and nothing more. His chats included conversations about murdering and eating women he actually knew (including his wife), but none of the women were actually harmed and the defense claims he never met any of the “co-conspirators.”

The contents of two computers used by Valle include images from various websites that show women being tortured and eaten. Some of the images show women who did not survive torture.

“Some are dead… A couple of them appeared to have been strangled,” said FBI computer forensics examiner Stephen Flatly.

Valle refused to take the stand on Tuesday, March 5th, and defense attorney Edward Vas argued on Monday that he should be exonerated for lack of “a true second participant” in the conspiracy. According to Vas, if the case continues to move forward, Valle may be forced to discuss all his sexual fantasies on the stand.
