Blaec Lammers planned to murder a Wal-Mart employee. |
When Blaec
Lammers was eighteen, he was found by police standing in a Walmart wearing
a Halloween mask and brandishing a butcher knife. Lammers told his parents he had planned on
following an employee to the back room and attempt a murder, with the hope that
a police fight would stop him before the assault was made.
Blaec’s parents checked him into a mental hospital, which
was the third attempt at having their son institutionalized. However, Missouri laws dictate that a patient
can only stay in a hospital for up to four days without a court order. The Lammer family took Blaec to multiple
doctors, each time being handed a new diagnosis and new set of medication. They are now $50,000 dollars in debt in
medical bills.
The attempts to help
Blaec have fallen short, as the twenty-year-old is now in prison for threat of
terrorism, first-degree assault and armed criminal action. His desperate parents turned him in to police
last year after finding a receipt for an assault weapon in Blaec’s
laundry. The gun was purchased from the
same Walmart he was arrested at two years ago.
His mental history did not come up during his background check because
all the institutionalizations were voluntary.
Blaec allegedly confessed to planning a mass shooting at Walmart and
possibly a local movie theater.

In a recent appearance on Piers Morgan, Blaec’s father Bill
calls the system where a mentally ill person can easily purchase an assault
rifle “totally broken” and says that there is no reason why the purchase of
the gun should have been legal. Although
the gun was similar to the assault rifle AR-15, the Walmart receipt simply said
“shotgun”. Blaec currently faces a potential life sentence in prison.
