Portland-based legal software company Zapproved announced
today that it has received $15 million in funding to launch two new products
into the legal market.
Zapproved’s current cloud-based software solution is Legal
Hold Pro, which helps to ensure corporate legal documents comply with the rules
and regulations required during litigation.
The new products will take those services to a new
level. Data Collect Pro helps companies
collect data remotely and without disturbing metadata. Digital Discovery Pro helps companies work
through the massive amounts of data they’ve collected to pinpoint what they
need for each legal situation.
“The current solutions don’t handle the growth of big data,” said
Zapproved founder Monica Enand. “We’ve taken our partnership with Amazon Web
Services and leveraged the cloud to solve problems around collection and data
processing.”
“This narrows down the set of data that actually needs to be
looked at by an attorney,” Enand explained.
In fact, Zapproved has been raising money for these new products
for quite some time. Last summer they
secured $20 million and acquired the Los Angeles-based eCloud Collect. Since then, the technology and funds have been
integrated into Zapproved’s suite of products to help preserve, collect, and
analyze massive amounts of information more efficiently.
For a long time, the legal market has encouraged businesses to
collect as much data as possible—which meant businesses were paying more for
lawyers to take the time to sift through the information to get at just what
was needed. With tools such as those
provided by Zapproved, the process is streamlined and will take less time and
manpower.
Zapproved’s clients are generally large corporations, including
those in the automotive, airline, consumer goods, and fast food businesses,
some of whom, Enand said, are household names.
