In late May 2016, Fredric G. Levin won a prestigious award—The Trial Lawyer of the Year by the National Trial Lawyers.

Levin is a well-known lawyer in the state of Florida—the law school at the University of Florida bears his name, after he made the largest donation in school history ($10 million at the time) in 1999 to fund the school. The Levin College of Law at University of Florida has produced many great legal minds, including U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Lucius D. Battle and former U.S. district attorney Kendall Coffey.

The National Trial Lawyers is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to recognizing exceptional lawyers who are crusaders for American justice. Levin was presented with his award at the 2016 Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which was held in Las Vegas.

At the ripe old age of 79, Levin still continues to work with law on a daily basis, serving at a firm his brother David founded in 1955: Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty, and Proctor. Their firm handles local and national litigation with specialties in prescription drugs, medical devices, and business litigation against large corporations.

Previously, Levin has received the Perry Nicholas Award in 1994, the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Florida Justice Association. It’s given to recognize personal lifetime achievements. He was also honored by the UN in 1999 and made a chief in the Republic of Ghana in recognition of his dedication to equal justice for those of all races.
