College is more than just classes if you're doing it right

College is as much about the things that happen outside of class as it is the subjects that you study inside of lecture. And we don't just mean socially, although that's what most people think of when they remember that period in their lives.

No, the important part of college is in all the extra bits of experience that you can wring from it.  Your chance of success after graduation depends a lot on whether or not you made connections and built networks with people in the field, whether you took advantage of internships or work-study programs, and whether you soaked up every bit of free information available to you.

This is especially true of fields where graduates are struggling to find jobs.  That's why free lecture series like this one at Purdue are so exciting.  They're a chance for students to branch out and make connections with people in the industry, learn new things, and perhaps get a grip on what exactly they plan to do after college.  This one in particular is featuring Keith Krach and, perhaps more importantly, includes free food.
